Untitled original paintings by Gemma, Presented by Project Art Works, 2023

Renovations will shortly begin at 12 Claremont in central Hastings, working towards an inclusive gallery and platform to showcase art from the extensive archive of works by neurodivergent artists and makers and creative practitioners from across the UK and beyond.

Prior to opening, Project Art Works will showcase painting, drawing and installation through a series of window exhibitions.

Gemma‘s artwork is currently installed at

The SPACE: A Zone of Art and Nature – ZAN from 27th January 2024.

THE SPACE utilises a billboard on land next to St Leonards Warrior Square train station with artists projects developed through the collaboration of Christine Gist and José Gross.

The work will be available to see for a couple of months raising awareness of artists from Project Art Works locally. The piece by Gemma was selected by the Creative Team at Project Art Works for its vibrant colour in contrast to its sparse surroundings, especially in the winter months.

St Johns Rd, St Leonards-on Sea, TN37 6HP

Gemma uses joyful physical gesture when painting applying bright colours to surfaces with large, heavy
brushes. Movements may be in response to music or interactions with other artists. Gemma produces works on paper and canvases simultaneously and vocalises her responses with key phrases throughout the day.

Artist Billboard & (ZAN) are realised through the support of The Hastings and St Leonards Foreshore Charitable Trust and Hastings Voluntary Action Community Matters Small Sparks grant.
