A couple of years ago when the library building was being refurbished , I happened to cycle past when some of the original stone facade was being thrown into a skip . Being a Stone sculptor, I immediately set about rescuing some of it. I decided after much thought to recharge some of those pieces of discarded stone into beautiful abstract sculptures. I wanted to offer a piece to the newly reopened library as a gift from me . A piece of history re- imagined into a small work of art. As much as I tried to contact lot’s of people at the council ie the arts officers and library services, it came to nothing in the end and I reluctantly sold a couple of the pieces I made for a couple of thousand pounds each.
